Emily Taylor

Assistant Professor, Sociology

Biography

Studied social psychology and organizational behavior at Stanford and then started an academic consulting business. Word quickly spread and soon I had students skipping school to come for tutoring. I was also an assistant professor and ironically taught Marriage & the Family even though I was 23, single and had no kids.

Wanting to have a more macro-level impact, I headed to business school at UCLA Anderson, where I focused on strategy and entrepreneurship, interned for Johnson & Johnson, and racked up way too many leadership positions.

After graduation, I joined a tech company in the education space. In true startup fashion, I held three roles in 2.5 years spanning sales managment, product management and talent development. Last year, I returned to my alma mater to teach a course on career management to all of the incoming MBAs and serve as a career advisor and head internal communications.

When not helping students find the right career, I'm helping with the fight against lung cancer, which my non-smoking sister-in-law was diagnosed with at age 28.
