Biography
University of Salford, Manchester
Since graduating in 2011 Emma has been cultivating a dual professional career in the creative and education industries in the north of England.
Emma is a high achiever in her academic endeavours and has continued to apply a similar approach in her career. Although she continues to diversify her experience and position in the education and creative arts sectors, the skills she has developed within the dual professions of education and visual communication have been varied and transformative. Alongside her position at Newcastle College in a senior lecturer role she studied and completed a PGCE, specializing in young people and adult learning within art and design. The opportunity to study advanced pedagogy whilst teaching full time within FE and HE learning environments allowed her to develop a robust and diverse teaching practice, underpinned and enhanced by her scholarly activity.
Throughout the development of Emma's career in education she has also maintained a versatile creative practice. Emma is dedicated to being both a successful educator as well as a creative practitioner. It is Emma's belief that her success in one informs the other. Alongside her career in education she also runs a one woman multidisciplinary studio.
Projects have included branding, design for music, charity and community projects, visual political and social commentary, typography and exhibitions. Current projects and mediums include moving image, artist books, editorial design and traditional printmaking.
