Biography
University of Cape Town
Eugene Bergh obtained his B.Sc. (Geological, Environmental and Geographical Sciences) and PhD (Geology) from the University of Cape Town. His research is focussed on offshore sedimentary mineral exploration studies, marine sedimentary processes, micropalaeontology, palaeoecology and palaeoceanography, in an attempt to understand how these dynamics are influenced by past climate changes along the southern African margin. His research is also based on understanding past geological and environmental changes to inform on modern environmental changes and its relationship with humans and related anthropogenic influences. He has previously lectured palaeontology in Geological Sciences and is currently based at the Iziko South African Museum and the Department of Environmental and Geographical Sciences at the University of Cape Town.
