Eva Machauf

Eva Machauf's artistic career started when she sent away for a drawing lesson kit at the age of nine. Although her mother made her return it, her interest in art continued to grow.

At Hunter College High School those interests were put aside for more academic pursuits which she continued to explore at City College, first majoring in Mathematics and ultimately getting a BA degree in Cultural Anthropology.

After college, determined to try everything, she worked at a comic book store, as a programmer for remedial math and English lessons, a film set decorator, graphic artist, designer and art director, and most recently, design professor. Throughout, she maintained her interest in photography and painting, acquiring an MFA in Figurative Painting and showing her work in galleries.

She sees her design and artistic work as being integrally connected to each other, as well as to her interest in cultural anthropology and mathematics.

She is available for freelance design work and teaching assignments in the New York City area.
