Gabe Shawn Varges has extensive international advisory and senior executive experience in governance, compensation, regulation, and compliance, both in the private and public sectors. He specializes on the strategic and more difficult challenges in these areas, including in terms of culture and the alignment of incentives.

He works around the world with boards, CEOs, the heads of key functions, and public authorities in developed and emerging markets.

His experience includes serving as Chief Compliance Officer of a major financial services international group, counselling large corporate clients at a leading international law firm, and heading the governance and remuneration areas of a key financial services regulator, where he also worked on taskforces of international standard setters, like the Financial Stability Board.

Mr. Varges has served on several professional boards and is a University Lecturer, teaching at various universities, including the University of St. Gallen. He holds B.A. and M.A. degrees, and from Harvard a Juris Doctor, where he also served as Teaching Fellow. His publications include, among others, «Governing Remuneration», «Board Evaluations: From Compliance Exercise, to True Performance Assessments», «The Case for Board Budgets and Resources», «Incentives to Protect and Promote the Compliance Program», «The Subsidiary Governance Challenge», and the «Double-Edge Sword of ESG».
