Gary Pacer has more than 35 years of project experience as a manager of software development at the University of Buffalo. In that role, he is responsible for the management and direction of activities related to the design, development and implementation of application software for the University community. Over the course of his information technology career, he has managed projects of varying scopes and sizes including many at an enterprise level. This experience has fostered many of the “lessons learned” that are discussed as part of the program. He has also been on the ground floor of his area’s development of a Project Management Office and the roll-out of project management concepts and techniques. Most recently he is championing his department’s movement towards an agile project management methodology.
Pacer received both a BS and MBA from the University at Buffalo School of Management. He achieved the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Project Management Professional certification in 2001 and is currently a member of PMI. He has been an instructor for the Project Management Certificate program since 2001.
