Biography

Gary Podorowsky is an accomplished privacy and cybersecurity professional with extensive experience in designing, building and managing large corporate privacy and cybersecurity programs. He developed, implemented and led Sony Corporation of America’s comprehensive privacy management program and also oversaw the company’s cybersecurity strategy and compliance program; created, instituted and directed Sony Corporation’s global information security vulnerability management program; and played a key role in writing Sony Corporation’s global information security policies.

Professor Podorowsky was the Privacy Officer and Senior Vice President of Sony Corporation of America for more than 15 years, and was concurrently the Executive Information Security Officer for 10 of those years. Prior to these assignments, he led the corporate development and strategic alliances department. He also held responsible positions in finance, corporate governance and compliance. He greatly enjoyed his 26+ years at Sony. Prior to that, he had a series of interesting and challenging operating and financial positions at Mobil Oil Corporation (now part of ExxonMobil) over 7+ years.

He has lectured frequently at Columbia Business School on privacy, and at both Columbia and MIT Sloan on media & technology. He has also taught courses at NYU’s and Baruch’s continuing education programs.
