Giorgio Giacomelli

Giorgio is Lecturer in Public Management at SDA Bocconi School of Management.

His collaboration with SDA Bocconi began in 2013. Over time he has taken part in research, education and organizational support projects for various public institutions. In particular, the projects in which he is involved regard the development of public management competencies and the design of performance measurement systems in the public domain. From 2015 to 2019 he conducted research on performance evaluation and employee engagement in public health authorities at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, in Pisa, where in 2018 he earned an International PhD in Management.

He has authored several publications related to the aforementioned research topics in national and international journals, including Azienda Pubblica, Mecosan, the International Journal of Public Sector Management, Public Management Review, Health Care Management Review, Health Services Management Research. He contributes to the research activity of the following SDA Bocconi observatories: OCAP Observatory on the Change of Public Administrations) and OASIObservatory on Healthcare Organizations and Policies in Italy). Since 2020 he has been a member of the steering committee of the Executive Master in Management of Public Administrations (EMMAP). He participates in national and international research networks such as AIDEA (Accademia Italiana di Economia Aziendale), AIES (Associazione Italiana di Economia Sanitaria), International Research Society for Public Management (IRSPM), Society for Studies in Organizing Heathcare (SHOC). In 2018 one of the papers he co-authored won the "Farmafactoring best paper award" for healthcare management. In 2020 he was nominated one of the candidates for the best doctoral dissertation of 2019-2020 at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna ("Giovanni Spitali" award).

He earned his master's degree in Economics and Management of Public Administrations and International Institutions in 2011 from Università Bocconi and his PhD in Management in 2018 from Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna.
