SDA Bocconi School of Management
Callea Giuditta is an Associate Professor of Practice in Health Economics and HTA at SDA Bocconi School of Management.
Her collaboration with SDA Bocconi began in 2010. She has coordinated major national and international research projects. Her projects have been funded by external sources, both public and private. She has also been part of the research team for other projects. She has coordinated several education activities for major companies operating in the medical devices industry and has taught in numerous executive courses.
Her research activities focus on economic evaluation and Health Technology Assessment of medical devices, funding and reimbursement of medical technologies, patient classification systems, procurement of medical technologies, determinants of adoption and diffusion of new medical technologies, and traceability of new medical technologies in administrative databases. She has always dealt with systems of governance for theintroduction of new technologies. She has carried out and is still involved in research on the impact of centralized procurement of medical goods and services, whose results have been published at international and national level. More recently, she has been involved in research on the impact of new European Regulations on Medical Devices (MDR).
She is the author of several papers published in leading international and national journals such as Social Science and Medicine, Health Economics, Health Economics, Policy and Law, Clinical Therapeutics, Economic Modelling, Empirical Economics, the Journal of Medical Marketing, the Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research, EuroIntervention, Hepato-Pancreato Biliary, Mecosan. Her article “The effects of upcoding, cream skimming and readmissions on the efficiency of Italian hospitals: a Population–based Investigation” (coaut. P. Berta, G. Vittadini, G. Martni) was awarded the Fabio Gobbo Best Paper Award from the Italian Society of Industrial Economics and Politics. She is the coordinatoor of the CERGAS (Centro di Ricerche sulla Gestione dell'Assistenza Sanitaria e Sociale)-the SDA Bocconi Observatory on Public Procurement Management in Health Care. She is the Topic Editor of the journal Clinical Therapeutics for the Pharmacoeconomics, Outcomes, and Health Policy area.
Giuditta earned a degree in Management Engineering from the Università degli Studi di Brescia and a Ph.D. in Economics and Technology Management from the Università degli Studi di Bergamo.
