Biography
The University of Hong Kong (HKU)
I study, work, and teach in mental health. My key areas are: (1) care innovations for people with severe mental illness (mainly psychosis); (2) advancing support for people with dementia; and (3) preventive mental wellness in youth and older persons. These works have led to over 90 publications with real-world implications. A government-commissioned dementia evaluation study I led has contributed to the ‘regularisation’ of a medical-social collaboration service, providing support to 2,000 families per year. A pilot service for older people at-risk of depression I co-led has broken down silos between aged care and mental health services; with demonstrated effectiveness and cost-effectiveness, the service has received funding for scaling up to cover all districts in Hong Kong.
An ongoing Research Impact Fund project I lead has resulted in a cross-sectoral collaboration involving key stakeholders in developing a dementia plan. I am working on a youth mental wellness programme, emphasising youth participation and service co-creation.
