Gregory Falco is a global expert in Cyber Security for Smart Cities and Internet of Things (IoT) technology. He is a research fellow at Harvard’s Cyber Security Project in the Belfer Center where he advises policymakers on the security implications of IoT on urban critical infrastructure. Falco is a security researcher for MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) where he works with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory on developing automated attack generation tools ultimately to be used to secure deep space assets. He is also the co-founder and CEO of NeuroMesh, an IoT security company that uses hacker tools to defeat hackers over the blockchain.
Previously, Falco was an executive at Accenture Digital where he co-founded their Smart City division and Climate Resilience practice. He advised Fortune 100 clients and cities around the world on advancing sustainability and growth initiatives via IoT and Machine Learning technology. Falco has independently consulted for organizations such as the UN Foundation, Expedia and Tishman Speyer. He specializes in bridging the gap between academic theory and practice which is the foundation of his teaching methods. At Columbia, he teaches courses on Smart Cities/IoT and Machine Learning for policy students. Falco is an internationally recognized inventor and thought leader and has lectured at and presented for the U.S. Navy, Cambridge University, the University of Tokyo and Cornell University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Tanzacare, an NGO focusing on improving rural public education in Tanzania.
Falco graduated from Columbia University’s M.S. in Sustainability Management, holds a B.S. from Cornell University and is a Ph.D. Candidate in Critical Infrastructure Cyber Security at MIT.
