Dr. Habiba Boumlik is an Associate Professor in the Department of Education and Language Acquisition at LaGuardia. She received her Ph.D. in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Strasbourg, France in 1996. She also holds an M.A. in Arabic and Islamic Studies and a BA in French as a Foreign Language from the University of Besancon, France. Dr. Boumlik teaches Arabic and French courses. Her academic background and teaching experience include Arabic, French language and francophone cultures and literatures, Cultural Anthropology, Women Cross-Culturally, Culture and Society in the West, Middle Eastern History, and Arab Cinema. Prior to her current position at LaGuardia, she has taught in France, Hungary, Egypt, and in several colleges and universities in New York. Her research interests encompass francophone literatures, North African immigration to France, Moroccan Judaism, and Berber identity.
