Hal Kirkwood

Hal P. Kirkwood (1968 - ) was born in Cleveland, OH. He obtained an undergraduate degree from Indiana University, Bloomington with a double major in History and Political Science. He acquired a Master's in Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina, Columbia.

He worked as a business librarian and technology librarian at the State University of New York at Geneseo. He then spent 20 years as a business librarian at the Roland G. Parrish Library of Management & Economics at Purdue University, reaching the rank of Associate Professor with tenure. He was added to the Purdue University Book of Great Teachers, becoming the first librarian to be so awarded. Currently, he is the Bodleian Business Librarian at the Said Business School at the University of Oxford, UK.

He served as the president of the Special Libraries Association in 2019. He is on the editorial board for the journal Business Information Review.

Kirkwood is published in the Journal of Business & Finance Librarianship, Library Journal, Information Outlook, Bulletin of the Business & Finance Division, SLA, and many other publications.
