Biography

Halit Aktürk holds Ph.D. degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University.

He was born in Mardin, an ancient city in the southeast region of Turkey, and grew up in Adana, a south coast city in Turkey on the Mediterranean. Following his mathematics and science studies in Düziçi Anatolia Teacher Training High School, he was accepted to the Department of Economics at Istanbul Bilgi University in the Fall of 1999 with university full scholarship. He then joined Economics Honors program at Bilgi University in collaboration with the London School of Economics. He successfully completed his coursework and was awarded Bachelor degree with first class honors. After completing his undergraduate studies he went to Department of Economics at Vanderbilt University in the U.S. where he received his Ph.D. degree in Economics. His specializations are Monetary Economics, Macroeconomic Theory, International Economics, Economic Growth Theory and R&D.

Halit enjoys hiking, playing soccer, traveling and reading in his spare time.
