Rotterdam School of Management
Hans Bruining is a former associate professor of Strategic Management at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. He obtained his Msc in Business Economics from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam (1975) and received his PhD from the School of Economics, Erasmus University in 1992. He wrote the first Dutch study on the performance of Management Buy-Outs and co-authored two books: The Handbook of Management Buy-Out: Theory and Practice (Kluwer Bedrijfswetenschappen ISBN 90 267 1602 8) and Private Equity and Management Buy-outs (Edward Elgar Publishing ISBN 978 1 84720 725 8). His research interest includes management buy-outs and the role of private equity in the enhancement of entrepreneurial management in buyout firms. His research has appeared in academic journals such as Small Business Economics, Human Relations, Management Accounting Research, Venture Capital, International Journal of Human Resource Management and International Small Business Journal. Hans is an affiliate member of the Centre For Management Buy-out Research at Imperial College in London, served as an academic director of the Erasmus Executive Education Course in Strategic Management at RSM Erasmus University. From 2011-2015 he was member of the Board of Reviewers of the Babson Entrepreneurship Research Conference (US).
