FAU School of Business and Economics

Harald Tauchmann (born in 1971) studied economics, political science and sociology at Heidelberg University and the University of Manchester, UK. After graduating in 1998, he worked as a research assistant at the Interdisciplinary Institute of Environment Economics (University of Heidelberg), where he completed his doctoral degree in 2003. Harald Tauchmann was a research assistant at the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research (RWI) in Essen from 2003 to 2012, before he became head of a junior research group at the National Research Center for Health Economics (CINCH, University of Duisburg-Essen). He has been professor of health economics at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) since 2013.

Professor Tauchmann’s research focuses on empirical health economics, with particular emphasis on issues related to choosing a health insurance provider, competition among health insurance providers and individual health-related behavior. He has also conducted research on methodology and environmental economics.
