Kellogg School of Management
Holly Raider is the Managing Director of Executive Education and a Clinical Professor of Management. Holly has published research on career development, economic transactions, and technology management. She holds a B.A. from Barnard College and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. From 1993-1998 Holly was a scholar at the Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology in Groningen, Netherlands.
Holly's expertise is in the art and science of leadership. Her teaching emphasizes the business application of social science theory and research. She teaches in Kellogg's core MBA course in organization behavior, the Weinberg College of Arts and Science undergraduate course Leadership in Organizations, and numerous topics in executive education. Her courses are highly interactive, analytical, and designed for the specific needs of distinct student populations and learning styles. Holly uses an engaging mix of teaching materials and is recognized for creating a dynamic learning environment. Additionally, Holly is sought after by international clients for her effective communication skills with audiences of diverse language and cultural backgrounds. In 2017 Holly was voted as a favorite faculty in the College's Kapnik Business Institutions Program for her teaching in Leadership in Organizations. Holly advises executives, senior teams, and boards on leadership, organizational development and change, and executive transition. Holly is the faculty advisor for Northwestern's Leadership Development and Consulting Club, and in 2020 Holly received a Northwestern University Wildcat Excellence Award for Outstanding Advisor.
In her role as Managing Director of Executive Education, Holly is responsible for curricular and program innovation, the strategic direction of faculty and curriculum including faculty recruitment and development, and continuous improvement to assure exceptional educational programs for senior executives. She leads strategic global learning partnerships with corporations, government, healthcare systems, professional sports organizations, and international universities. Holly also provides stewardship for Kellogg's learning exchange with the US ARMY.
Since coming to Kellogg in 2011, Holly co-led the reorganization and development of the Executive Education unit, including rebuilding the marketing team and creating a corporate business development team. Holly conceived and launched the team that partners with faculty and external partners in the development and implementation of face to face and online learning, including Kellogg's first fully-online non-degree version of MBA curricula. She also forged programmatic innovation and bridged across Northwestern University to create inter-disciplinary collaboration and curriculum, bringing the arts and humanities into business education. Holly designed and spearheaded Kellogg's Advanced Management Program to prepare senior leaders for enterprise-wise leadership responsibilities, created Leading Into the Future: Managing in a Changing World, and conceived and launched Kellogg's innovative teaching incubator, SPARK.
As Associate Dean of Academic and Faculty Initiatives Holly served on the dean's senior operating team and led initiatives to advance organization development, strengthen faculty communication and culture, and foster stronger collaboration between administrative and faculty areas at Kellogg. She oversaw Kellogg's accreditation and Kellogg's participation in Northwestern's 10-year Program Review - both are comprehensive, school-wide, and with external dean peer-review. She advanced faculty development and culture by leading the revival of honorary chair investitures, spearheading an integrated architecture of Kellogg's teaching support ecosystem, including course support, teaching excellence, and curriculum planning and development. She also chaired the Clinical Faculty working group to enhance Kellogg's approach to developing, integrating, reviewing and promoting clinical faculty.
Holly was appointed to Northwestern's Program Review Council, the oversight body for University-wide strategic planning and continuous improvement for the schools, academic departments, and administrative units at Northwestern. Holly supports the professional development of academic and administrative leaders across the University. She served as the academic director working with an inter-institutional steering committee of deans creating a business school leadership development program for female faculty from across the United States, a first-of-its-kind initiative to foster a strong pipeline of future business school leaders.
Before joining Kellogg, Holly was the Client-Faculty Liaison at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business where for more than ten years taught executives and worked with faculty, alumni, and client organizations to plan and implement custom corporate education programs as well as open enrollment executive programs in the areas of leadership, strategy execution, and organization change, including Booth's flagship Advanced Management Program. Holly designed the Executive Leadership Program for the Chicago Booth Executive MBA programs in Chicago, London, and Singapore. Prior, Holly was an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
Holly has consulted for Global Fortune 500 corporate clients helping senior executives and leadership teams think strategically and execute complex organization change. She has worked in the United States, Asia, South America, and Europe with clients from numerous businesses, including financial services, aerospace, food services, professional sports, and manufacturing.
Holly is the board co-chair of the Glenn Pelham Foundation for Debate Education, a nonprofit dedicated to developing the skills of conflict resolution, critical thinking, literacy and communication to underserved elementary and secondary students. She serves on the board of the Fiedler Hillel at Northwestern University, and is a recipient of the Warren Aiken Outstanding Alumni Award of the Barkley Forum at Emory University.
