Holmer Kok

Holmer Kok is Assistant Professor at the House of Innovation at the Stockholm School of Economics. He obtained his PhD from the University of Groningen. He has taught various courses in strategy, innovation, and operations management, and supervised theses at different levels. His research focuses on four core questions: (1) What are the factors that underlie the creation of impactful new technologies? (2) How do firms and individuals appropriate the value of new technologies? (3) What are the performance implications of external knowledge sourcing strategies, such as strategic alliances and mergers and acquisitions? (4) How should public research funds be allocated in order to stimulate research output? His PhD thesis won the 'PhD Dissertation Award' from the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Groningen, and was a finalist for the Academy of Management's 'TIM Best Dissertation Award'. His research article “Dusting off the Knowledge Shelves: Recombinant Lag and the Technological Value of Inventions” won the EBS SITE Best-Paper-Award “Innovation Management” in 2019. He currently serves as Associate Editor for the journal Industry and Innovation.
