After graduating from Law at the UPF, Ignasi Costas did postgraduate studies both in Spain and abroad (UCLA, UC Davis y Harvard). Moreover, he is a Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA).

He has taught at several universities, and in 2012 he was chosen as a Visiting Scholar by the Colombia University Law School. As a member of university research groups, he has published numerous legal articles in his area of specialization. Since 2013, he has taught the International Business Law class for the MBA program at the IESE.

In 2003 he founded RCD - Rousaud Costas Duran, a multidisciplinary law firm of over 300 professionals and with offices in Barcelona and Madrid. He performs management duties in the firm as a member of the Board of Directors, and as Head of International Relations, Human Resources, and Marketing. He also leads the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department (a groundbreaking initiative in Spain), which includes the practices of entrepreneurial initiative, technology transfer, Venture Capital and the internationalization of companies.

He collaborates with academic bodies and hospitals to define their policies for the protection and transfer of research results, and in the creation of spin-offs. He is recommended by main international legal directories (Chambers&Partners, Legal500 and Best Lawyers), and has received various accolades, such as the Iberian Lawyer 40U40 Award in 2013, for his "Outstanding Social Contribution".
