Graziadio School of Business and Management
Dr. Green began his management career with Weyerhauser Company in Tacoma, Washington, where as the manager of International Planning and Administration, he was responsible for international planning, administration, and financial analysis of major international expansions and acquisitions in pulp, paper, and containerboard. He also served as Weyerhaeuser''s representative on boards of directors of international subsidiaries. He moved to Southern California and worked for Pacific Enterprises and its subsidiary, Southern California Gas Company. He was responsible for financing the large gas supply projects and later moved to managing the planning and productivity/quality functions for the Gas Company. He has served on the Advisory Council of the American Productivity and Quality Center in Houston and on the Board of Directors of the Quality and Productivity Management Association, headquartered in Chicago. Dr. Green was a member of the Los Angeles County Quality and Productivity Commission for ten years and served as its Chair for five years. Also, he was a member of the Los Angeles Countywide Criminal Justice Coordination Committee for several years. He completed all of his doctoral work, except for his dissertation, while working full-time. He left the Gas Company in 1994 after a total of 28 years of management experience.
In 1994, Dr. Green began teaching for Pepperdine University as an adjunct professor. In 1995, he joined the faculty on a full-time basis and, in 2000, was appointed to a tenure track position in strategy. He has taught extensively in the fully employed programs and Executive Programs and has had a major role in the simulations for all programs. Dr. Green also taught courses in strategy at California State University, Los Angeles, and California State University, Fullerton. In addition to serving as a full-time member of the faculty of the Graziadio School, Dr. Green taught several seminars on Strategic Management to EMBA students at Wuhan University in China. Dr. Green is a tenured full professor and Department Chair of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, Information Systems and Technology Management. His research and publications focus on Boards of Directors of Nonprofit Organizations and on the use of simulations.
