James has been working as a practitioner of strategy since the 1980s and has experience through the whole strategic management lifecycle, from creating a vision/mission, analysing the business environment and internal capability, making strategic choices, setting objectives, developing strategic themes for execution and managing the changes necessary to realise the business case benefits. He has worked as a line manager in a UK public company, as a management consultant in a respected ‘boutique’ IT strategy practice in London and has run his own professional services company since 2003, focusing on management consulting and development.
