Biography

James graduated with a MEng in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford in 2007. He then continued his studies, obtaining a PhD entitled "Biosurfactant production by fermentation with integrated foam fractionation" from The University of Manchester in 2011. Following this James was awarded a six month EPSRC Doctoral Prize to further investigate biosurfactant production and subsequently continued this work as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Multiphase Processing Group in the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science.

James started as a Lecturer in Chemical Engineering in 2013. His current research interests are focused around industrial biotechnology and the efficient production and separation of bio-based products, such as biosurfactants and biopolymers.
