Dr Jan Brinckmann is Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategy in the Department of Strategy and General Management at ESADE. Before joining ESADE, he was Assistant Professor at Loyola University Chicago, where he served as Program Director of the Entrepreneurship Program. Prior to this, he taught at Cornell University and the Technical University Berlin. He additionally did research stays at Stanford University and Case Western Reserve University.

Dr Brinckmann''s research has been published in five books and prestigious entrepreneurship journals including the Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Research Policy and the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal. Dr. Brinckmann is on the Editorial Review Board of the two leading entrepreneurship journals, the Journal of Business Venturing and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice. He regularly presents at leading international entrepreneurship conferences and has received four best paper awards.

Dr Brinckmann has co-founded, advised and supported several start-ups and high-growth firms in the US, Germany, and Spain. He is an active business angel who supports ventures on different boards. His focus lies on entrepreneurial marketing, financing, business development, and internationalization. He has a passion for applying the lean startup methodology.
