Ms. Kauffman is Vice President of Addiction Treatment Services for North Charles Foundation, Inc., Director of Addictions Consultation for the Department of Psychiatry, Cambridge Health Alliance, and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry,Harvard Medical School, the Cambridge Hospital. She was the Director of the Addiction Psychiatry Service, Brigham and Women’s Hospital from 1991-2009. She has worked with addictive disorders for the past 39 years in direct treatment, program development and management, teaching, and local and national policy initiatives. She is the founder and President of the Massachusetts Methadone Treatment Providers Association, and the Massachusetts delegate and First Vice President and Chair of the Policy Committee for the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence Board of Directors. Co-Chair of Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP 43: Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Addiction in Opioid Treatment Programs/Center for Substance Abuse Treatment [CSAT], Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration [SAMSHA]). Areas of expertise include opioid dependence, dual diagnosis, pain and addiction, addictions in general hospitals, and addicted medical professors.
