Jason Freed

Dr. Freed grew up in Central Florida as the eldest of 9 siblings. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida where he was part of the prestigious Junior Honors Medical Program. His honors thesis focused on investigating new diagnostic methods for rheumatoid arthritis. He also received his M.D. degree from the University of Florida where he graduated with honors and was selected as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. At graduation he was awarded the John Gorrie Award for "the best all-around student showing promise of becoming a practitioner of the highest type." He then completed his residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston where he was selected to be chief resident. He completed his training with a hematology/oncology fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where he subsequently joined the faculty. Since joining the faculty he has received the Steven H. Robinson Memorial Teaching Award and the Herrman L. Blumgart Faculty Award.

Dr. Freed practices hematology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and teaches at Harvard Medical School. He is also the hematology course director for the acclaimed Physiology on the Fly course for internists.
