J.D. Smith is a veteran litigation attorney at the Law Office of J.D. Smith. Before and during law school, he worked as a claim adjuster and underwriter. Mr. Smith has tried 60 civil cases to verdict, completed 150+ arbitrations and more than 900 depositions. He has been consistently named a “Super Lawyer” by Washington Law & Politics since 2004.

Mr. Smith is also a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. The American Bar Foundation is an honorary organization of lawyers, judges and legal scholars whose public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and the highest principles of the legal profession.

He is a regular instructor with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) and the National Business Institute (NBI). He also has achieved the rank of Advocate member from the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Membership is by invitation only and nominees must be approved by 75% of the membership. ABOTA is an honor organization that includes plaintiff and defense attorneys. Advocate members must have obtained a minimum of 50 civil jury trials to verdict or a hung jury.

Mr. Smith obtained his undergraduate degree from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas and Juris Doctorate from Texas A&M School of Law.
