Biography

INSEAD Business School

French born and a United States citizen living in New York since 1991, Jean Claude Noel has lived on three continents and has conducted business in different industries and in every part of the world. In addition to his understanding of cross-cultural environments, he brings to Executive Coaching and Leadership Development a ‘real life’ global experience at Board level. In 2001, deepening his interest in the human aspects of organizations, he participated in the first INSEAD/HEC program in Consulting and Coaching for Change, based on Clinical Organizational Psychology. With a thesis on ‘The Human Dimension of Change’, he obtained the HEC Masters in Consulting and Coaching with Honors.

He later joined INSEAD’ Faculty as Adjunct Clinical Professor and the INSEAD Global Leadership Center (IGLC) as Coaching Practice Director. Until 2010 he has held responsibility for Leadership Development in the Global Executive MBA Programs held in Fontainebleau, Singapore and Abu Dhabi as well as the Asia Executive MBA developed jointly with Tsinghua University in Beijing. He now focuses on Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise, building on his consulting and corporate experience with family controlled organizations.

In 2002 he founded Atrium Consulting LLC in New York and is affiliated to the Kets de Vries Institute (KDVI) as a Senior Associate. His other affiliations include the International Society for the Psychoanalytic Study of Organizations (ISPSO), the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches (WABC) and the Harvard Medical School Mclean Hospital Institute of Coaching. He is also involved in the Global Leadership Fellows Program at the World Economic Forum in Geneva and New York.

His most recent corporate role was on the Board of Christie’s International as Group Chief Operating Officer, position he held until the end of 2004, responsible for Operations worldwide and also overseeing Human Resources with a focus on Organization and Leadership Development.

In his previous assignment on the Management Board of TNT Express Worldwide as Senior Vice President-International he held overall business responsibility for the Americas, Asia/Pacific and Middle East/Africa, based in New York. As part of his role as Corporate Vice President – Mergers and Acquisitions for TNT Post Group, he conducted integration activities as Chief Executive Officer of various subsidiaries.

He has an extensive background in Hospitality, including seven years on the Board of Hilton International as Vice President-Western Europe and Africa, based in Paris and Senior Vice President-The Americas based in New York. In an earlier part of his career he was also Managing Director of the Restaurant Division of Casino Guichard Perrachon. He remains involved in the hospitality industry as Operating Executive for Global Leisure Partners, a firm specialized in Hospitality, Leisure, Gaming and Luxury Goods in London and New York.

As part of his commitment to the community, he has joined the Ruttenberg Treatment Center at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, working with cancer patients as a volunteer and received the United Hospital Fund Volunteer Achievement Award in March 2009. In his leisure time he is a private pilot.
