DePaul University

Jennifer Barron is an adjunct professor in the College of Communication with a focus on Interpersonal and Organizational Communication, Intercultural Communication, Instructional Communication, and Conflict Resolution and Mediation. She has taught at California State University, Long Beach prior to joining DePaul University.

Barron teaches courses in Public Speaking, Intercultural Communication, Interpersonal Communication, and Small Group Communication.

Her academic preparation includes a BA in Interpersonal & Organizational Communication and Sociology from California State University, Long Beach. She earned an MA from CSULB in 2009, concentrating on instructional communication, interpersonal communication, and negotiation and conflict resolution. She also has two mediation certifications – one in the Art and Practice of Mediation from the National Conflict Resolution Center in Rimini, Italy and the other in Mediation and Conflict Resolution from the Orange County Human Relations council in Santa Ana, CA, as well as a diversity training certification from the S.T.A.R. Diversity Training program from CSULB's Multicultural Center.

Aside from instructing communication courses in the classroom, Barron is also a Certified Hatha Yoga Instructor, MOTR Instructor, WERQ Dance Fitness Instructor, as well as a Certified Personal Trainer. She enjoys teaching group fitness classes in the greater Chicagoland area, and offers yoga, MOTR, and WERQ at Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and loved ones, practicing yoga, traveling, exploring Chicago's food, art, and music scene, and engaging in a mindful and holistic lifestyle.
