Overview

Jenny currently works as a research associate in the department of respiratory medicine, working primarily on the Manchester Asthma and Allergy Study (MAAS). She completed her PhD in 2013. Jenny's role as a research associate has involved the preparation and maintenance of genetic samples for MAAS as well as the many collaborating study groups. Jenny is responsible for all genetic related work surrounding the MAAS cohort as well as the other collaborating sample sets. As a PhD student Jenny carried out a series of functional experiments to follow up previous genetic associations found in MAAS.

Biography

After graduating from Manchester University in 2001 with a BSc in Neuroscience, Jenny joined the immunology group in the faculty of life sciences at Manchester University. Jenny worked as a research assistant on a project characterising the genetics of the host immune response to parasitic infection in mice. Jenny joined the respiratory group in 2004, where she worked as a research assistant under the supervision of Angela Simpson. Based in the Centre of Genomic Medical Research (CIGMR), Jenny oversaw all of the genetic work surrounding the Manchester Asthma and Allergy Study (MAAS) together with the many collaborating cohorts that are maintained within CIGMR. In 2007 Jenny started a PhD in functional genomics under the supervision of Professor Adnan Custovic and Dr John Curtin. Since finishing her PhD Jenny has continued to play an intergral role in MAAS as well as manage the genetic work undertaken by the other research groups within the respiratory medicine department. Jenny also manages the genetic component of the Manchester Respiratory and Allergy Biobank (ManRAB) and is repsonsible for the various research projects stemming from this resource.
