Harvard Medical School

Dr. Jeremy Richards is a member of the BIDMC faculty in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. He is a Clinician Educator involved in both undergraduate (UME) and graduate medical education (GME). Clinically, Dr. Richards works in the Medical Intensive Care Units (MICUs) at BIDMC. Among his formal roles in medical education, he is a core faculty member and Pulmonary Section Lead in the first-year medical school curriculum at Harvard Medical School (HSM) for a comprehensive course about fundamental basic science and clinical concepts in Pulmonary, Cardiology, and Hematology. He has designed, implemented, and published several studies involving these cognitive and perceptual aspects of learning and thinking about medical practice and clinical problems. Dr. Richards is also the Director of the Medical Education Research Laboratory at the Shapiro Center for Education at BIDMC.

In addition to his roles at BIDMC and HMS, Dr. Richards is a fellow of both the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Physicians, and holds leadership roles in both professional organizations. He serves on Test Material Development Committee at the National Board of Medical Examiners. He also serves as an Associate Editor for ATS Scholar and BMC Medical Education.
