Jim Hughes is a professor of Biostatistics at the University of Washington and a professor in the Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Division at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. He received a Ph.D. in statistics in 1993 from the University of Washington and joined the faculty in Biostatistics at the UW that same year.
He works on clinical trials for the prevention of HIV and other infectious diseases and develops new statistical methods for the design and analysis of clinical trials. Hughes has taught introductory courses in biostatistics for over 20 years and was named the School of Public Health and Community Medicine Outstanding Teacher in 2007.
