Biography
Center for Creative Leadership
Drawing upon her real-world leadership experiences, Joan’s broad industry-sector expertise brings a practical strength to the wide variety of clients she works with at CCL.
Joan easily combines her design and delivery expertise with her coaching skillset to deliver high-impact client solutions. She is a certified executive coach and has coached all levels of leaders, including senior executive and action-learning teams.
Joan has held numerous management and faculty roles during her tenure at the Center, including Managing Director, Colorado Springs; Greensboro Campus Director; and Group Manager of Individual Leader Development.
Prior to joining CCL, Joan was an Assistant Vice President at US Trust Company, a wealth management firm managing the learning function. Joan has extensive experience in the health care field. A published author on health care, she has worked as a clinician, educator, and administrator.
Joan currently works with clients to deliver leadership solutions at the organizational level with an emphasis on leadership strategy, culture, and organizational transformation.
She also builds capability within CCL to advance the Center’s organizational leadership practice and facilitates programs focused on the C-suite.
Joan is a program designer and lead faculty for the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow’s program and facilitates Leadership at the Peak.
Joan graduated from Duke University with a BS in nursing and earned her MA in nursing administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has continued her business education through numerous post-graduate courses.
Joan has a long history of board service in support of her belief that community service is a powerful practice field for leadership development.
