Joan Jané is Lecturer in the Department of Production, Technology and Operations Management at IESE Business School. He earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Spain and his MBA from ESADE Business School. He also holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and completed a General Management Program (PDG) at IESE Business School and a Innovation Leadership Program at Stanford University, GSB. In addition, he is currently adjunct professor in Supply Chain Management at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.

He started his professional career at HP in 1989 in Manufacturing Engineering for inkjet printers and since then he has held different management positions in Production, Procurement, Planning and Logistics for HP in Europe. Currently, he is the Head of Logistics for HP Europe/ME & Africa for the printing and computing business units and he leads the Logistics Program Management and Engineering Office.

His areas of expertise are the optimization and management of global supply chain operations, with a particular emphasis on strategic alliances in supply chain, outsourcing management of manufacturing and logistics in industrial sectors. He is also specialist in strategic project management and leadership of innovation systems in the operations environment. He has published and co-authored several articles and his most recent one is "Contracts, Negotiation and Learning: An Examination of Termination Provisions", which appeared in the Journal of Management Studies (2014). He wrote the book titled The Handbook of Logistics Contracts: A Practical Guide to a Growing Field published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2006.

Joan has participated in a number of different conferences and international forums in logistics and manufacturing operations. He was awarded by the Spanish Logistics Association (C.E.L.) with the prize of the year 2006 in Logistics Research. In addition, he was granted a patent in the U.S. for A Method and System for Achieving Control of Invoicing for Third Party Services.
