Bio
Joseph "Jody" Magliolo, III joined SMU in 1993. He is a Distinguished Professor of Accounting in the Cox School of Business, and former chair of the Accounting Department. He is also a past president of the SMU Faculty Senate and chair of the All-University Finance Committee. Professor Magliolo earned a Ph.D. at Stanford University and B.S. and M.B.A. degrees at the University of Texas at Austin. He specializes in oil and gas accounting and bank and financial institution reporting. He received the Cox M.B.A. Distinguished Teaching Award and the Cox School's Research Excellence Award. Additionally, Professor Magliolo is a past president of the Financial Accounting and Reporting Section of the American Accounting Association. He retires as Professor Emeritus of Accounting.
