Biography

American Association for Physician Leadership

Joe Geskey is the vice president of medical affairs at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital. A board-certified internal medicine and pediatrics physician, Geskey is also a member of the AHC Board of Physicians and is widely recognized for his contributions to chronic disease management.

Prior to joining OhioHealth in 2012, Geskey was an associate professor of pediatrics and medicine, division chief of pediatric hospital medicine, and medical director of hospital care management. He completed his internal medicine-pediatrics residency at Penn State University Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and is currently completing a Master of Population Health at Thomas Jefferson University.

In addition to his work, Geskey is passionate about health literacy and patient activation. He designed an in-home curriculum for COPD and CHF patients with low-health literacy and various stages of patient activation to prevent 30-day hospital readmissions. He has described the latter in the January 2018 edition of Health Literacy: Research and Practice.
