Joe McDonagh

Joe McDonagh is Associate Professor of Business (Strategy and Change) at Trinity Business School where he also serves as Director of Doctoral Studies. His research, teaching and advisory work focus on the process of leading large-scale strategic, organisational, and technological change programmes in civil and public service organisations.

He has extensive experience working with government organisations in Ireland, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, the European Commission, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the United Nations.

He is currently a member of the External Review Panel for the Organisational Capability Reviews being rolled out across Government Departments, Offices, and Agencies under the aegis of the Civil Service Management Board. He is also a member of and External Advisor to the newly established Strategic HR Advisory Group which is advising on the implementation of the Civil Service People Strategy.

He is a regular conference speaker and contributor to the media whilst also publishing widely on the dynamics of large-scale change. Research output has appeared in a wide range of conference papers, book chapters, journal articles, and Government reports. Specific journals include Administration, Communications of the AIS, Irish Journal of Management, Organisation Development Journal, Public Administration Quarterly, and Strategic Change.
