Johan Geertsema was the Director of CDTL. His research revolves around the importance of values for higher education, academic cultures and identities, educational leadership, and evaluation of teaching achievement. He is on the editorial board of the International Journal for Academic Development and a member of the Universitas 21 Educational Innovation Steering Group.
