Johannes is a guest researcher at the Department of Strategic Management and Globalization at Copenhagen Business School. He holds two master degrees, one in economics and one in business administration. Johannes finished his PhD, which focused on studying exploration and exploitation in organizations, in 2014 at the University of St. Gallenwith the highest distinction. His thesis was awarded with the prestigious best Ph.D. Award by the Strategic Management Society twice (in 2011 and 2012). In 2013, he spend a year as visiting Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton and the University of California, Irvine.
Johannes is interested in developing and testing models based on behavioral theories to explain organizational actions and strategic decisions such as investment decisions, resource allocations, divestitures, and others. Thereby, he typically relies on theoretical constructs such as organizational learning, framing and bias, exploration and exploitation, and social comparison. His work is mostly influenced by the Carnegie School and was published in outlets such as the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, the Journal of Management, and the Journal of World Business. Johannes is a member of the Academy of Management as well as the Strategic Management Society and regularly works as a reviewer for outlets such as the Strategic Management Journal, the Journal of Management Studies, Long Range Planning, and others.
