John Bono

John Bono is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Decision, Operations and Information Technologies at the Smith School. He is passionate about teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to programming, databases, web application development, systems development lifecycle, and analytics. He joined the department from the Volgenau School of Engineering, George Mason University, where he taught problem-solving/programming and database management courses. Additionally, he has taught in the School of Business and Technology, Marymount University and the Undergraduate School, University of Maryland, Global Campus.

Aside from his academic experience, Dr. Bono has over 20 years of professional experience at for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. His interests include: the design, development, and implementation of information systems to solve business problems; application of systems development methods; and technology acceptance and user adoption within organizations.

He earned his PhD in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University after completing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from The Catholic University of America and Master of Science in Electronic Commerce from University of Maryland, Global Campus. He also holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) credential from the Project Management Institute.
