Dr. John Stuppy is the former president of TutorVista, the worldwide leader in affordable, convenient and effective personalized internet-based tutoring and test prep education services.

A former Chief Information Officer with the Princeton Review, Stuppy is an education entrepreneur with 25+ years of sales, marketing, technology and management experience.

Stuppy founded the Center Technology Group at Sylvan Learning Systems, and developed the automated diagnostic and prescriptive assessment and enterprise systems used in over 1,000 learning centers across the country. He earned thirty nine (39) patents for internet-based automated diagnostic/prescriptive assessment, instructional delivery, student and curriculum management, and incentive-based learning systems.

He then joined Educational Testing Service (ETS) as the VP, Product Development over K-12 assessment, college/graduate entrance and application processing, placement/qualifying tests, national benchmarks, English language proficiency, professional development and assessment, on-line writing evaluation and test preparation.

Stuppy earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a Master’s in Curriculum Studies and Teacher Education at Stanford University. He later received an MBA at Kent College and a Ph.D. in Education Policy Analysis at UCLA. For his academic and community achievements, Stuppy was awarded the Outstanding Graduate Student of the Year award at UCLA.
