Josef Simpson

Academic Coach

Biography

I am a first generation college student and began my college education at a community college. I quickly transferred to Biola University where I earned a BA in philosophy. I continued my education earning an MA in philosophy from Fordham University, and then another MA and a PhD in philosophy at Johns Hopkins University. As a first generation college student, I am in a unique position to understand the difficulties that young men and women face early in their higher education careers. My experiences and upbringing have given me a passion for education and the skills to succeed which I strive to pass on to those students I coach in academic and life skills. In addition to my work as an academic coach, I teach part time at the Metropolitan School of Professional Studies and the School of Philosophy.
