University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business

Joseph Kapika is a Senior Energy Specialist in the Energy and Extractives Global Practice of the World Bank Group. Prior to joining the World Bank, Joseph served as Senior Researcher and PhD candidate with the Management Programme in Infrastructure Reform and Regulation (MIR) at the University of Cape Town's (UCT) Graduate School of Business (GSB) where he was also co-ordinator of the MIR's flagship programme, the African Electricity Peer Review and Learning Network.

Joseph's experience in the electric power sector spans 19 years and his work has covered power system planning, transmission system development, the Southern African Power Pool, power sector reform and regulation among others. He holds a B.Eng. (Hons) in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from Loughborough University in England, and an M.Sc. in Economic Management and Policy from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland.

Joseph is also co-author of Power Sector Reform and Regulation:Lessons from Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, HSRC Press (2013)
