Jp Krahel

Associate Professor at Loyola University Maryland

Biography

-

John Peter (JP) Krahel, Ph.D., CPA, has been a member of Loyola's accounting faculty since 2011. Originally from Hillsborough, N.J., Dr. Krahel earned his Master of Accountancy from Rider University; he holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from Rutgers Newark. His scholarship focuses on digital financial reporting, corporate social media risk, and accounting education. Dr. Krahel believes an accounting education from Loyola is about “creating a narrative using numbers and requires equal parts business acumen, communicative skill, and a human touch.” Among the reasons he enjoys teaching at Loyola are the opportunity to get to know his students personally, Loyola’s Jesuit values, and student morale: “The students know why they are here, they believe in something larger than themselves, and they come in committed to improving themselves and their communities,” he says.
