Julia Backmann is an Assistant Professor in the UCD School of Business and based in the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business in Blackrock. She obtained her PhD from the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar/Germany. Before joining UCD in January 2019, Julia worked as an Assistant Professor at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich/Germany. Julia’s research focusses on collaboration and leadership in challenging environments.

Her work has been published in leading academic journals such as Leadership Quarterly and the Journal of Product Innovation Management. Julia also regularly presents her work at international conferences (e.g., Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management) and has received several awards and grants for her research. Julia teaches in the areas of Organizational Behaviour, Leadership, International Management and Innovation Management.
