Stanford Continuing Studies
Kate Stephenson specializes in strategies for developing new medical technologies into successful products. With twenty years of professional engineering experience, she has spent equal time designing new devices and teaching others to do the same. She received a PhD in mechanical engineering from Stanford.
Dr. Kate Stephenson is an engineer, researcher, public speaker, and writer. An experienced educator, she holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and is currently an instructor for the University’s Continuing Studies program. She is particularly passionate about sharing new technologies that have allowed for innovation is traditionally under-served markets, including women's health, pediatrics, and orphan diseases. After nine years of serving in multiple medical design firms, Kate founded a strategic consulting firm, Dyad Engineering, that works exclusively on new technologies and products in the medical field. Moving fluidly between investors, lawyers, founders, academic institutions, and major corporations, Dyad provides strategic innovation expertise built from over 50 different medical device projects that span the entire human body.
