Background
Kathy Langston began working at USC in 2012, where she has taught Professional Communication (MGMT 250), Business Writing (ENGL 463) and English Composition (ENGL 101/102). As a result of teaching in several universities, Langston has developed expertise in face-to-face and online classroom settings with traditional and adult learners using many different teaching methods. Langston has taught Professional Communication, English writing courses and religion courses in universities for more than 25 years.
Langston’s master''s degree focused on professional and technical communication, which provided her the education to support her teaching communication in the workplace. She also brings experience working as a professional communicator to USC. Having written successful grants, created multiple marketing documents and run her own editing business, Langston understands the challenges within the discipline of professional communication.
Langston’s experiences living and working in Iceland and in Hawaii serve as rich background for teaching students to communicate in international settings. She also has presented several papers at conferences as well as serving as a conference leader on multiple occasions throughout her adult life. Langston’s education includes a Ph.D. with a specialty in composition and rhetoric, an M.A. with a specialty in technical and professional communication, an M.Div. with a specialty in languages, and a B.A. in English. Professional communication has been the focus of Langston’s education, work experience and teaching.
