Kathy Wantuch serves as a Senior Lecturer of Accounting at The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from University of Illinois at UrbanaCampaign, with honors, a Juris Doctorate, cum laude (Law Review, Moot Court), and an LL.M. in Taxation, with honors, from The John Marshall Law School. She currently holds an Illinois CPA Certification based on Certification by Exam.

After law school, she clerked for U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Bruce W. Black of the Northern District of Illinois, and continued her legal career in private practice as a business attorney. Having guided hundreds of clients through the bankruptcy process, Kathy honed a decisive, clientfocused approach to achieve successful results. She successfully represented debtors through chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy proceedings. Kathy also counseled clients on nonbankruptcy solutions to financial issues. Each year from 2012 – 2017, Kathy was selected for inclusion in Illinois Super Lawyers®–Rising Stars Edition as one of the top upandcoming attorneys in Illinois. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state receive this honor. She also was recognized by SuperLawyers® as one of The Top Women Attorneys in Illinois in 2013 and 2014.

She has experience in the financial services sector working at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where she continued to apply her extensive bankruptcy experience in default servicing and operations.

Kathy Wantuch also has served as a Lecturer of Business Law at the University of WisconsinWhitewater College of Business and Economics. During the 20152016 academic year, she taught FNBSLW 341 (Business and Commercial Law) and FNBSLW 433 (Creditors’ Rights and Bankruptcy) in the Department of Finance and Business Law.

Her teaching interests include taxation, financial accounting, and business law, while research interests include consumer debt and legal tax research.
