Researcher, Team leader and co-founder of the NEMO Natural Emotionality in Digital Interaction project
Katri Saarikivi is a cognitive neuroscientist and team leader / co-founder of a research group called NEMO Natural Emotionality in Digital Interaction at the Cognitive Brain Research Unit at the University of Helsinki.
In 2015, NEMO won the grand prize of the science-based idea competition Helsinki Challenge.
In her research, Saarikivi explores the neural mechanisms behind empathy and fruitful interaction, particularly in digital environments. In general Saarikivi is fascinated about social cognition, cognitive control, and how these functions emerge from brain processes. Her interest is in moving towards a two-person point of view on cognitive processes.
As an independent consultant / speaker, she works with organizations on subjects like the future of work, digital work, connectivity, creativity, and human-centeredness. Saarikivi hopes to bring relevant neuroscientific knowledge to organizations to help in supporting human interaction, learning and thereby better value creation.
