Kausik Gangopadhyay

Kausik Gangopadhyay is an Associate Professor in the area of Economics at the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode. He is presently the Chairperson of the Fellow Program in Management at IIM Kozhikode. He has earned his PhD from the University of Rochester. Prior to that, he received the degrees of Bachelor of Statistics (Hons.) and Master of Statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute.

Primarily an Applied Economist, his contribution in research lies in the areas like development economics and labour economics. His research interest also extends to the spheres of interdisciplinary research, most notably econophysics and urban management. His research articles have appeared in international journals like Economics Letters, Economic Modeling, Physica A, Economics Quarterly, Landscape and Urban Planning, Urban Forestry and Urban Greening. He also contributed to national benchmarks like Economics and Political Weekly He has co-edited a volume published by Springer Verlag Italia entitled "Econophysics and Economics of Games, Social Choices and Quantitative Techniques" (2010).

Apart from successfully teaching existing courses in reputed institutes like University of Rochester, Indian Statistical Institute, Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, he experiments with new pedagogy and new courses. He also contributes to training and consultancy being involved with clients like Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Indian Army, Reliance Industries in that process.

Research Areas

I work in the field of Applied Economics. I examine and apply economic principles in diverse spheres including labour economics and development economics. I have more than 325 citations with a h-index of 10 in google scholar.
