Prof Kevin Harding holds a BSc and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town, and a PG Diploma in Education from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Following his studies, he spent time at Environmental Resources Management (ERM SA) in Cape Town working on various process safety and risk assessment projects for various oil and gas, food and chemical companies in South Africa, the UK, China, Kenya and Nigeria.

Prof Harding is currently an associate professor of chemical engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg working as a researcher and lecturer. He was the co-founder of the Industrial and Mining Water Research Unit (IMWaRU), looking at various cross disciplinary water related issues. His research focuses on ways to reduce environmental burdens through the use of biotechnology, Life Cycle Assessment and related fields.

Prof Harding has written various peer reviewed publications, presented at local and international conferences and is currently an editorial board member of the journal 'Chemical Engineering Education'.
